The Mercedes G 550 is the G Wagon everybody recognizes from a block away. Ours is white, which is the right color for it in this town. Under the hood is a 4.0 liter twin turbo V8 that makes a lazy growl at idle and a real shove when you ask for it.
It drives better than the shape suggests. The ride is settled, the cabin is quiet and the leather and screens inside are full S Class quality. You sit high, the doors shut like a bank vault, and valets at every resort on the Strip know exactly what it is.

Can I take the G 550 off road?
No. Rentals stay on paved roads. It is still great for Mount Charleston, Red Rock and Hoover Dam, all of which are paved the whole way.
